2009 ACC Ultimate Championships
The 2009 ACC Ultimate Championships were held on the weekend of January 24th and 25th and were hosted by the UNC Ultimate team and the Student Recreation Department at UNC-Chapel Hill.
The top 10 men's teams from the Atlantic Coast Conference, including UNC, NC State, Duke and the University of Virginia, all attended, with Virginia defeating UNC for the ACC Championship Title.
Played under a modified set of ultimate rules based on the UPA 11th edition (click here for the rule changes), tournament games provided non-stop action. Each game was overseen by two Observers empowered to keep games moving at a furious pace.
All games were played in UNC-Chapel Hill on the Hooker all weather fields near Carmichael Auditorium and Fetzer Field.
Saturday play was highlighted by a UNC vs. Duke showcase game won by UNC 13-7 in front of a crowd of several hundred spectators.
Sunday featured the elimination rounds culminating in the ACC Championship semi-finals and finals.
